Jury Award Pretexting
Jury Awards $1.8 million for Victim of "Pretexting" - A must
read
Colleagues,
Former employer used 'pretexting' to get access to personal
phone records
Court records reveal that a former employee's phone records were
obtained by a service hired by a detective agency by "pretexting"
and gaining confidential information under false pretenses. In
the victim's case, someone called her telephone carriers and
pretended to be her. Her former employer, the ultimate client,
received her phone records as part of an investigation into
whether the former employee was stealing business from the
company. The jury found that the "pretexting" in the employee's
case invaded her privacy.
